A nice occasion to support a type of crime prevention during this special time.
This year we are supporting Seehaus e. V. in Leonberg. There, young people and adolescents between the ages of 14 and 23 - who have been sentenced to juvenile detention or imprisonment without probation - are given the chance to prepare for a life without crime outside of prison and the negative influences of other prisoners.
Seehaus e. V., based in Leonberg, is involved in offender aid and victim support. As an alternative to closed prisons, Seehaus offers open prison for young offenders. In addition to living in family-like shared living arrangements, the concept also includes the opportunity to start an apprenticeship in one of four craft businesses and to catch up on school qualifications.
From 5:45 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the young people are integrated into a consistently planned educational program: House cleaning, school, work, career preparation, sports, community service, dealing with the effects of crimes on the victims, reparation, social training and the imparting of Christian values and norms are integral parts of the concept.
They serve to ensure that young people learn to take responsibility and have the best prerequisites to be able to integrate into society as law-abiding citizens.
Young people with a substance abuse problem and young people who have been convicted of crimes against sexual self-determination or who are at risk of fleeing or suicide are excluded from this project.
With this year's donation, we are enabling the purchase of new equipment for the four training companies in metal construction, horticulture and landscaping, as well as in the carpentry and joinery/construction sectors. Seehaus offers 15 different apprenticeships in these areas. Seehaus e. V. is constantly in need of equipment and tools, as these are subject to high wear. Currently, several chainsaws and pruning shears are needed for horticulture and landscaping.

There are also many children and young people living on the streets alone and without a roof over their heads in our area. We support the "Schlupfwinkel" contact point in their work, where they provide a warm meal, a place to sleep and encouragement.
