The clamping unit Ratio-Clamp® works on the principle of frictional contact.
As long as the hydraulic releasing pressure is applied, the rod can be moved freely in both directions. Only the seal friction has to be overcome.
If the releasing pressure is removed, the force stored in springs is released and causes the rod to clamp.
This is done either by controlled pressure reduction or, in the event of a pressure failure, by emergency shutdown, power failure or system damage.
The clamping is maintained over an unlimited period and without additional energy supply. The releasing pressure opens the clamp and the piston rod can be moved freely again.
The clamping unit Ratio-Clamp® is not a brake and must not be used as such in continuous operation. In the event of an occasional emergency, for example in the event of an emergency stop, braking with brief slippage is also permissible from a moving state.
