Assembly and disassembly
Hänchen offers piston types with seals in the following designs: rectangular compact seal, rectangular compact seal with elastomer and Servoseal®. And a seal-less version: throttle gap.

Disassembly of sealing elements on the piston
TIP: Place disassembled parts and seals in the same order and orientation as they were installed.
- Remove wear rings [1].
- Carefully cut open the rectangular compact seal piston [2] and lever it out of the groove with a blunt tool.
- Pierce the o-ring [3] under the rectangular compact seal [2], tilt it out of the groove and remove it.
Note
- If necessary, smooth metallic guides with fine sandpaper.
Assembly of sealing elements on the piston
- Slightly stretch the o-ring [3] and insert it into the groove in the piston.
- Ensure that the O-ring is not twisted.
- Expand the rectangular compact seal [2] with assembly sleeve and bushing (piston seal) - or by hand - and insert it into the groove in the piston.
- Reform the rectangular compact seal with assembly bushing (cylinder tube) or with cylinder tube.
- Insert the wear rings directly when pushing the piston into the cylinder tube - or into the assembly bushing (cylinder tube).
- If rectangular compact seal with elastomer: Slightly stretch the elastomer sealing ring and insert it into the groove in the rectangular compact seal.
- Make sure that the elastomer ring is not twisted.
Note
- Ensure that installation spaces and sealing elements are clean and undamaged.
- For easier assembly: Moisten seals with functional fluid or use compatible assembly grease, warm up if necessary (max. +35 °C).
- When installing several wear rings one behind the other, make sure that the joints of the wear rings are offset from each other.
