The suggestion for the selection of equipment features depends on many operating conditions.
The right equipment is decisive for the quality and reliability of the hydraulic cylinder, for its friction force, as well as the wear behavior of the hydraulic cylinder.
In particular, in addition to the working temperatures and the travel distances and speeds determined in the hydraulic design, the side loads acting on the piston rod of the cylinder should be taken into account when determining the equipment:

No side loads Ideally, a hydraulic cylinder is installed in such a way that no side loads act on the piston rod. In these cases, a metallic guiding system or the Servoslide® guiding system on the cover is recommended. |

Side loads due to lateral movement Hydraulic cylinders with swivel mountings, such as spherical plain bearings, are frequently subject to side loads that occur due to lateral movement of the cylinder. In principle, hydraulic cylinders are designed for this, and the Servoslide® guiding system on the cover is recommended here. |

Very high side loads Highly dynamic movements can also cause very high side loads on the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder. Cylinders of the 320 series are specifically designed for such applications. |
