Air filter
for filtering flowing air or gases

Hänchen air filters are screw-in porous metal elements made of sintered bronze. They are used for ventilating non-pressurised spaces, such as on oil tanks or unpressurised chambers in hydraulic cylinders, in order to protect them from damage caused by foreign bodies in the incoming air. They are characterised by a high dirt separation capacity and long service lives and are particularly suitable for filtering flowing air or gases.

Principle of filtration
Larger dirt particles in the air are trapped on the surface of the filter element. Smaller particles penetrate the bronze filter element and are held back from the airflow as if in a labyrinth. The achievable separation efficiency depends, among many other parameters, in particular on the airflow rate. Therefore, air filters should always be selected as large as possible. The pressure resistance of the airflow also depends on the airflow rate.
